Captain Victor Gutierrez was born in the capital City of La Paz and loves everything about fishing. He truly enjoys being out on the water, everything from watching the waves crash, to spotting his target fish and hooking it. He finds excitement in watching the fish on the line jump and fight, and helping the angler have that special moment where they finally land it. He always likes a challenge and works hard to put anglers on fish. His biggest satisfaction is making sure that his anglers have a great day out on the water and teaching or learning something new. His favorite target species is Sierra Mackerel.
Victor is also passionate about keeping fishing sustainable. He is always aware of handling fish correctly to increase chances of survival on release, especially for species like Roosterfish and Marlin. Jose is trained in proper tagging of these species, so If this is something you are interested in please mention this to your reservation agent.
In his spare time he enjoys surfing and motocross.
A Panga is a skiff with an outboard motor. This type of vessel has a simple fighting chair as well as extra seating for 2 or 3 passengers and just one crew member (Captain). Pangas regularly have a "porta potty", rather than an enclosed toilet & some shade. A regular trip is for 5 hours & usually close to shore, though you may travel anywhere from 1 to 10 miles parallel to the coast, generally up the Pacific side, depending on the fishing season.
The tackle offered is light, from 20 lbs. to 40 lbs. test, depending on the season & species targeted. There are many inshore species that are worth fishing for, some of them are delicious to eat and some of them are fantastic to fight and release! Keep in mind that your catch can be cooked five different ways at Captain Tony's restaurant on the marina next door to the Pisces Reservation Office.
Cabo waters offer a rich variety of smaller game fish such as Spanish Mackerel (sierra), Rooster fish, Red Snapper, Jack Crevelle, Yellow Tail, Rock fish, Lady Fish, Amber Jack, Grouper, Trigger fish, Dorado, Yellow Fin Tuna and you might even be able to fight a Marlin or a Sailfish if they stray closer to shore.
