PISCES SPORTFISHING FLEET WEEKLY FISH REPOT FROM MAY 1ST THROUGH MAY 7TH, 2008 OVERALL SUCCESS RATE: 84.4% BILLFISH: Hi anglers, this week we saw a lot of marlin but there was also a lot of bait so they made it a little harder for us to catch them. There were a few comments from a few anglers and some crew members reporting over 30 marlin swimming around the boat, sometimes they could actually touch the fish, but when they threw the bait, they just looked the other way as they were stuffed already, even so we had a very nice 52% Billfish success rate and all fish were released. On May 1st, Spartacus released 7 striped marlins for James Feagin from Dallas all on live bait, the next day we had a tie between Tracy Ann for the Cullings party from Washington and the Yahoo for the Star Lumber Group, each boat releasing 5 striped marlins close to Palmilla on the Sea of Cortez. On May 3rd, marlin started to slow down a little bit, however Spartacus went all the way to Destiladeras and released 8 stripers for Chris Blake from Firth Idaho. Starting Monday, May 12th we will have the annual IGFA OFFSHORE WOLRD CHAMPIONSHIP, over 60 teams from all over the world will participate on this famous tournament, we will keep you posted on how it goes. OTHER SPECIES: The rest of the week we had boats with 17, 19 and 20 tunas, a few Mako and Hammerheads, as well as a few yellow tail, sierras and a 30lbs Wahoo. Dorado was a bit slow with only 26% of the fleet catching them. WEATHER: Mostly sunny with a few clouds, 77F average. WATER TEMP.: 74 to 77F LOCATION: Pedregal beach, Palmilla, Cabeza de Ballena, Destiladeras. BAIT: Live bait and cedar plugs. Based on the catches of Pisces Fleet by Jorge Narro in Tracy’s abcense.
